I want to go to BC so badly! Will someone please chance me??

Can someone chance me??? I feel like my SAT Scores aren't good enough knowing that a lot of academically strong kids (like 15 in a certain school and a handful from all the other schools) in my district are pulling high 2100's to mid 2200's

For some reason people in my district are really academically inclined this year, in addition to having impressive extracurricular activities (many of them have national rankings in math competitions and a couple are either state ranked or nationally ranked in sports)

My credentials are not nearly as impressive as yours, yet it says I have an 89% of getting accepted into Boston College. Sometimes I think they just send people random statistics because I have no idea what they are basing these results off. :P I'm sure you are just fine. :)

I feel like my gpa is too low to apply?

No, your GPA is not too low to apply. :)

Would someone please look at my profile and see why I only have 26.7% chance to get into BC.

Thank you so much, this is stressing me out beyond belief.

Your chances from the computer prediction are basically exactly equal to the admissions rate, so your chances are equal to those of the average applicant. Your extracurrics and whatnot may push you into a better than average position, but you shouldn't despair. Just reinforces that you should keep working hard and do your best on the application.

Because the system doesn't take into acount the amount of extra curriculars or volunteer work you do, not even AP scores. it only takes standardized test scores, gpa, and class rank, which makes up your selectivity index number. I noticed it increases more with higher test scores.

Depending on the school, it takes into account more than just what goes into your selectivity index, but in general you're (currently) about right.

I've gone to Catholic school my whole life. That's not my reason for wanting to attend, but I know it's a great school that I like in a great city. Do my religion and Catholic high school have pull? I've received scholarships to my high school based on both Christian works and academic merit.

BC is an excellent, top 25 perhaps even, school but i know alot of kids the caliber of BHwhs who have used it as a backup and havent had a problem(no tufts syndrome as far as ive seen) thing to remember about BC is religious element, if you make it look like you dont want that or you'd be a really bad fit, thats the only way i could imagine you not getting in, but otherwise, this is a good "backup" option to apply to although i dont like using "backup" for a school like BC

How!? thats weird. what are your GPAs ?

2 points by BHwhs   3 years ago

You can look in my tracker at my stats. Thanks!

Honestly, it would be difficult for me to imagine a rejection letter coming your way from here unless they decide to play strategic admissions or really dislike your essays. Which reminds me to remind you: start your essays now. No time like the present.

Good advice! Thanks James.

99.1% chance. What do you guys think about my chances to the colleges listed in my tracker?

yeah i know 2 kids that got in here with 2.9's and 1500's

schooler101, people like you on here piss me off. For one, no one besides the actual university knows whether or not you'll be accepted. Secondly, there was still an 18.7% you wouldn't be accepted. Thirdly, the site cannot be totally accurate as aforementioned. In fact, they say they are 80% accurate. They are not perfect; they don't even claim to be perfect.

this site definitely underestimastes Boston College. The average ACT score for EA acceptees was 33, and mychances gives you a good chance if you have 28-30. I wouldn't listen to what this website says for your chances at Boston College.

the average act score for a boston college is nowhere near a 33 so whats your point?

1 point by schooler101   3 years ago

well this site was totally wrong. said i had a 81.3% chance and yet here I am... rejected :(

yea i had a 96% chance of gettin in and when i changed my ethnicity to white, it turned into a 265 chance. it doesnt matter to me anymore because i got in! good luck

1 point by BIGPEEPEE   3 years ago

It's because you're Hispanic. Blacks and Hispanics get into colleges more easily than whites or Asians.

2 points by mastershake142   3 years ago

how is anyone supposed to take what you say seriously when your name is BIGPEEPEE lol

1 point by schooler101   3 years ago

does this make getting in here look simple or easier? it says i have a 94.1% chance of getting in

1 point by jhu14emw   3 years ago

that and applying early decision like you did is obviously going to increase your chances of getting accepted, lookitsckaz, so i don't really get why you were worried

1 point by Hit92   3 years ago

So, mychances predicts you will get in, the prediction is correct, and now you want them to suck it? What?

1 point by lookitsckaz   3 years ago

So..i was 67.5% anddd i got in and into the honors program...so suck it mychances.net

1 point by britt518   3 years ago

I'm pretty sure they make Boston College seem easier to get into than it really is. It gets harder and harder every year.

1 point by grs16   4 years ago

yet ny chances are 61%. ??

1 point by sjens2277   4 years ago

My chances here are much higher than they should be as well.

1 point by flacapinky   4 years ago

IT SAYS I'VE GOT 98% CHANCE? that's waaay wrong... i can hardly get in with my ACT score and lack of AP's...can someone help me about how these things are calculated?
