What are my chances of getting in? I currently have a 4.71 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted. I am a member of Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, my school's rocketry team, and my school,s band. I don't volunteer much but next year I plan on doing as many clubs as possible since I don't have as many hard classes. I haven't taken the ACT yet but my estimated score from the PLAN test was 32-34, and I plan on taking the ACT multiple times before applying.

What are my chances? I am currently a junior in high school, with a weighted GPA of 3.75 and a 3.35 unweighted, I will have completed the following AP's: Physics B, Calculus BC, US history, CompSci A, English, Biology, Statistics, Econ & Gov, and maybe 1 more)

I have taken honors English every year, if that matters and I've played soccer every year as well.

I know my GPA is kind of low, but what would be a good test scores for the ACT and SAT? And any tips!? :O

Volunteer. Get leadership, either as a soccer captain or club president. Aim to get 2100+ on the SAT, not top sure about the ACT though, I never took it.

Hello, everyone!

So, I have a super low gpa... Freshman year woes. I do have a decently high ACT score, but I'm very involved with activities--I'm the youth elder at my church, I'm the lead organizer of fundraising for my youth group, I'm on my high school's varsity swim team, I'm part of the Minneapolis Rowing Club (woot woot, Minnesota), and I volunteer for the boys team and a local middle school's team that I help coach... A bunch of other stuff too, but I'm probably boring you all.

Anyone want to hit me with reality? (It'd be dandy if it's good news, though!) Thanks :)

I have a 4.391 weighted and 3.641 unweighted gpa. Ranked 15 out of 449(top 5%). 610 critical reading, 680 math, 690 writing on SAT. At the end of my senior year I will have taken 7 AP courses(World history, US history, Eng lang, chemistry, Eng lit, physics, government) and 8 honors courses. I am graduating with an advanced honors diploma. Have done 4 years of varsity swimming(qualified for 3+ regional events), 2 years of interact club, 2 years of NHS, 1 year political science club, have attended a few state/local conferences. Have two good recommendations. What are my chances of getting accepted into Boston U as a physics major?

hey, can someone chance me please? Unweighted gpa of 3.7 but i'm taking 4 AP courses this year I am 50% Korean if that means anything. =) got a 28 on the ACT, top 11% of my class, Student council VP, Track and Field athlete for 4 years, i've had some unique orchestra experiences (string quartet, instrument reconstruction, teaching private lessons). The system gives me a solid 80%, but i wanna see if you guys think otherwise. Thanks!

I visited BU's campus and have been to several informational meetings with representatives from the University. Based upon what I learned from those sessions I would say that you have a very solid chance with a promising record. Just make sure to put equal effort into your application essay and supplement as you have done throughout high school. Have faith and good luck! xx

Is it impossible for me to get into BU?

2.7 GPA (highly competitive high school) and 1950 SAT?

2 points by Steen   1 year ago

I know someone who scored 2300 on her SAT, but had an unweighted GPA of 3.1. She was denied at BU and NYU but got in at UCLA. Her extra curricular activities were outstanding.

I don't think it is impossible. Yes, your GPA is low, but if you bring it up during the first quarter your senior year and are taking rigorous classes that will help. Also make sure to do volunteer work and/or a job this summer. Visit BU and interview if you can.

It is so unfair to get accepted and get absolutely nothing from the university even with an EFC of 0. Am I the ONLY one who got screwed from BU financially? I got 11k which was the pell grant and the 2 fed LOANS. I am so disappointed.

1 point by antomicblitz   2 years ago

Made it :). It felt like quite a reach for me, because most of my counselers said I probably wouldn't get because of my low GPA and mediocre SAT score, but I suppose the sincerity I expressed in my application counted for something. Thankfully we don't live in a society completely dominated by meritocracy.

1 point by cth956   6 months ago

What were your % chances of getting in? I'm at a 66% chance. Hopefully I can make it too

i had no idea that a meritocracy was a bad thing

I was so happy that I got accepted until I saw my financial aid notice... seriously BU, SERIOUSLY. 5500 financial aid wtf I had an EFC of 0 lol.. I don't think I can afford a 50,000 dollar loan for 4 years..no way. I guess I can't go here :(

1 point by Berry135   4 months ago

So sorry to hear that. How about scholarships? The website Zinch is really great for that. Did you get accepted into any other schools that you like just as much? By the way, I totally know how you feel. One school didn't give me any money at all.

i got waitlisted...i don't understand what they were doing because i thought i would have gotten in

Its ok it happens to the best of us...and you have other options that are good too. Keep your chin up ;)

1 point by donehere   2 years ago

Sorry dimeg90750...I was waitlisted on 2 schools that I had 99% chance of getting in and rejected at one that I had 99% prediction too. I don't know why. :(

1 point by dimeg90750   2 years ago

haha well for you it might just be tufts syndrome because your sats and gpa don't exactly fit with those schools (your scores are much higher than their average).. but yea it really sucks because I wanted to go to BU, but i guess i got to make other plans now

BU is my top choice and i am freaking out. I recieved a 1990 on the sat and have some E.C's. I also raised over $3,000 for autistic students at a lolcal school. I have a 3.66 unweighted GPA, and a 3.75 weighted (out of 4.0) replys are much appreciated. Thank you and please reply!!

1 point by tiffany_balram   7 months ago

I think you have a really good chance, solely based on the fact that you raised over $3,000 for autistic kids, good luck with your application! I'm sure you'll get accepted as long as you show dedication and leadership skills.
