that's a good attitude! Duke is supposed to be awesome anyways, so congrats on that acceptance! I'm sure you'll have a great experience there.

What were the "little things" you changed? If you changed your leadership status, for example, what did you change it from, and what did you change it to?

This type of thing is helpful for identifying algorithmic oddities.

I decided to try changing my leadership status as well; it doubled my chance at Harvard, cut my chance at Duke from 84% to 15%, doubled my chance at Princeton, and sent my chances at MIT to 0! I'm starting to doubt the legitimacy of this site's calculations when little things like this drastically change one's chances

It doesn't make sense. There must be other similar factors that are unjustly weighted in the acceptance probability algorithm. Just goes to show why so many people come here wondering why their chances are below 10% for a school that they in fact qualify for.

Thats weird, I tried the same thing and it also increased my chances at Princeton and University of Chicago by 40% each.

By putting my leadership as "not important to me" my chances went from 60% to 93.5%. wow. what the heck. my harvard chances also went up by 40%.

Can anyone see why my chances getting into Darmouth is 0% ?

People that are applying/ are going to Dartmouth. Would you mind checking my profile and reading my essay to give me a better estimate of my chances?

1 point by claytonw   3 years ago

Could some people currently at dartmouth please take a look at my profile and rate it?

that's also really weird because dartmouth, of all colleges, makes eeeeextra special efforts to obtain native american students (there's some historical document or thing they have that accounts for those efforts idk)

yeah, dartmouth wins the award for best supplement ever. fastest one i've done so far. and i totally agree. even if i don't get accepted (and i hope i do- i'd love to go), at least this way i know i tried. i'll never be stuck wondering.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a similar percentage (45.7%) and I'm applying. If you don't apply, then your chances of getting in will be 0%. Go for it! In fact, I don't even think Dartmouth has supplemental essays.

44%? wow, i won't apply or does someone think I should?

What if I go to one of the hardest high schools in the country (Hopkins) and I only have a 3.25 GPA (estimate, we dont do GPA) and lots of APs and a 2280 on the SAT with some nice extracurriculars...an 8.2 seems kinda harsh?

Hey, you just need to look at all the profiles of the people who were admitted, and compare yourself with the rest

90! Freaking sweet! And my essay has gotten some high scores (at least for the rating system here)

1 point by Hrum   4 years ago

I'd say there's a 90% chance you'll get into Dartmouth on early. Just write a good essay and it's a winner.

I have a 56% chance of getting in here. What if I apply early-decision.
