Can someone chance me please? I am a Junior. My UW is 3.8, and my weighted is 4.0. I have taken 8 AP classes (receiving all 4's on the tests except for one 3 in bio and a 1 in chem), 9 honors classes, all above 90. I got a 28 ACT and a 1840 SAT (planning on retaking both). I am on my high school varsity bowling team, world language club, national honor society, national business and marketing honor society, etc. I was a volunteer bowling coach, a recreational aide in an assisted living home for a year and a half, etc. I have several jobs as well; I am a farmer and I work at a bowling alley in every position.

Chance me for LSP? I applied directly. I have a 3.85 GPA (weighted on a 4.0 scale, I know I know. I don't get it either but my school doesn't do unweighted). I have a 1900 SAT composite (R: 620 M: 550 W: 730). I've done plenty of extracurriculars including being an associate on a local, student-run television show, and intern at the museum of fine arts. So could anyone chance me? It seems to be a reach for CAS or Gallatin or Stern, but I applied for LSP.

Someone please chance me! SAT score is 1880. 3.8 GPA (unweighted). I'm an IB candidate, and I take 4 HL courses. I have taken ballet for about 14 years, and I'm part of a pre-professional program where I dance about 30 hrs/week most of the year. I also help teach younger kids' ballet classes for community service. I am in NHS and Red Cross Club. I have participated in many events with my church, including volunteering in the nursery. What are my chances of getting in?

Your GPA is fine. SATs are kind of on the low end, but I think you still have a chance. I'm not really that sure because Im applying too, but you could still get into LSP, I'd imagine.

Pennyrocky, although your uwgpa is on the lower end for NYU admits, it is in range. I think you will get in - chances 75%.

You may also want to consider Northwestern (it is noted for journalism, is in your home state) and Carnegie Mellon. Northwestern is extremely selective with test scores but not quite as selective with uwgpa - that works in your favor. It is probably a better IL option for journalism than the University of Chicago.

If you could take the time to chance me, I will hug you. 35 ACT composite GPA weighted (4-point scale): 3.9 GPA unweighted: 3.6 There is a significant upward trend from freshman year. I have started my own camp for economically disadvantaged, Spanish-speaking (I'm fluent) youth. I volunteer to teach dance classes in Spanish every Saturday. Other extra curriculars: Musical productions, Dance show productions, School newspaper, media club, and I run my own blog. I am also a professional singer (my music is on iTunes), and I teach technology/computer lessons to senior citizens. I can't apply ED because my family simply can't take that financial risk. I have demonstrated interest in the school by touring campus and attending various NYU events. I really would like to pursue my own major of Peace and Social Justice at Gallatin or do the Global Liberal Studies program. I am more than willing to attend CAS or LSP. I am graduating a semester early next year (senior year) to travel the world and do community service. Thanks in advance, guys. I really appreciate it.

I also have played varsity volleyball since sophomore year and play club volleyball. I am an agency signed model so i spend a lot of my time doing that as a job.

What are my chances of getting in? I currently have a 4.71 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted. I am a member of Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, my school's rocketry team, and my school,s band. I don't volunteer much but next year I plan on doing as many clubs as possible since I don't have as many hard classes. I haven't taken the ACT yet but my estimated score from the PLAN test was 32-34, and I plan on taking the ACT multiple times before applying.

Around 70%. Your grades and test scores are in range. The decision may come down to your essay, letters of recommendation and DEMONSTRATED level of interest. Visit the college to increase your chances or atleast set-up an interview/meeting with a local alumni.

What are my chances? I am currently a junior in high school, with a weighted GPA of 3.75 and a 3.35 unweighted, I will have completed the following AP's: Physics B, Calculus BC, US history, CompSci A, English, Biology, Statistics, Econ & Gov, and maybe 1 more)

I have taken honors English every year, if that matters and I've played soccer every year as well.

I know my GPA is kind of low, but what would be a good test scores for the ACT and SAT? And any tips!? :O

1 point by nyu2016   5 months ago

To be honest, I'm guessing you'll be rejected. Your unweighted GPA is what counts, and it's not even close to NYU's standards. you need at least a 3.6 unweighted. I got in with a 3.8 unweighted.

1 point by JackieS40   7 months ago

I completed my first three years of high school with a 3.1 cumulative GPA. At the end of my junior year I was diagnosed with a learning disability. I began receiving accommodations for my disability at the beginning of my senior year. I currently have a 4.0 GPA as a result of finally overcoming my disability. I sent my current grades along with a personal statement explaining this situation to New York University in hopes that my true intelligence will be recognized. NYU is my ideal school for my major which is dental hygiene. I applied straight to the four-year, direct admit DH program. The minimum requirements for this program are different than other majors. They are as follows: a grade point average of 2.8 or higher and a combined SAT score of 1000 or higher (21 combined ACT score). Please take this information into consideration before you chance me.

Hi guys :) can someone please chance me? I'm originally from Ecuador. I moved to the U.S two years ago and i don't know how things are looking for me right now. I want to go to NYU so badly but i have no idea if i even stand a chance. i honestly wish i would've moved here earlier so my transcripts would look differently. I'm working my butt of right now to get to at least 100 community service hours. I just need opinions. I don't mind if they're harsh at all. Just be honest :)

1 point by DSAH   7 months ago

Hi, fellow Ecuadorian. :)

I moved here six years ago, and it was still hard for me to adjust, so I can't imagine what you must be going through. It seems to me like you have a pretty sollid resume, but I would work on getting your SAT scores and SAT subjects scores up. Other than that, you have pretty good credentials. I think NYU requires two SAT Subjects.. so make sure you take some!

I just applied early decision on November 1st. I currently attend a school that combines your junior and senior years in high school with your first two years in college. I will graduate with like 60-70 credit hours that might or might not transfer. My GPA used to be a 4.0, but obviously these courses are harder. Chance me..?

O.K. so here we go, I am a 10th grader who's biggest dream is to get into NYU. I'm getting a 3.5 out of a 4.0, but I'm taking the hardest classes there is to take. I'm only in 10th grade but i am taking AP math and all else honors. Also I have scored a 1720 on the SAT when I took it in 9th grade. I know I need to get that up but is it a good starting score for a 9th grader? When it comes to extracurriculers, I have had 200 volunteer hours all ready. I would get up at 6:00 AM during the summer and volunteer 7 hours at the Cleveland Clinic on Mondays and Fridays. I am also apart of Student Council, Key Club, our Youth Leadership Commission, and I am the editor of our school newspaper. What do you guys think?

1 point by collegehunter101   8 months ago

Depends on what you want to major in at NYU. If you are thinking of majoring in Finance (Business Administation), yuor chances are very low. The SAT scores in general are 2100 and above and capped (8 semesters worth of extra points) GPA expectation is 3.8. Does your high school rank? are you in the top 10%? That could help.

Nikki, looking at your academic record, I would say that you of course have a chance of getting in. Your SAT scores are not great, but I do believe that your extracurricular activities and the fact that you are applying Early Decision are some of the better parts of your application. I was thinking about applying ED at NYU, however they are bad with financial aid from what I have heard... best of luck!

What is the normal Gpa and Act scores of a stern undergraduate?

1 point by windy214   3 years ago

Does anyone know if the chances on this site take into account the specific schools one is applying to?

1 point by James   3 years ago

Do you mean the undergraduate schools within NYU?

1 point by windy214   3 years ago

Yes, for instance I am applying to the Stern School. are my chances calculated only with the stats of other students who have applied there or will the stats of students who applied to say the CAS also be used?

1 point by James   3 years ago

Great question. Not yet, but it's high on our priority list because it's clearly important at some schools.

1 point by darthnerdius   3 years ago

The stats on this site are rather unrelated to the individual schools because the stats are mostly tied to GPA and SAT/ACT scores. Admission differences in individual schools usually come down to more specific things that arent numbers (for example, business classes and extracurricular activites for Stern, video portfolio and extracurricular activities for Film in Tisch, etc.). This site is a good measurement device for how well you will do in the preliminary application review process, the one that NYU does for every applicant in addition to the specific school.

1 point by DCP2011   3 years ago

I agree with sweetandlow, please explain why my chances go down if I apply ED. I've heard that ED may or may not increase your chances, but I've never heard of it decreasing your chances.

1 point by James   3 years ago

This is purely a function of the results we've seen. When correcting for various other factors, we see a slight but significant decrease in chances for those who apply early to NYU. Whether or not this is a statistical aberration, I cannot say.

You can invent hypothesis for either result. If ED has a positive effect on your chances, you can say that the school gives preference to ED applicants. If it has a negative effect, you can say that so many of the strongest applicants apply ED that there is actually stiffer competition. The effect is small (I know a 15% jump in chances looks large, but relative to other factors this is modest), but without actually knowing what they do, I can only speculate.

1 point by DCP2011   3 years ago

Thank you very much for explaining. Do you mind if I ask one more question? I've heard that one reason why early decision is a good option is because spots fill up very quickly, meaning that RD students who are qualified might get rejected due to lack of space. Have you heard of this? Do you know anything about this at NYU? I understand if you're unfamiliar with this. Thanks!

1 point by James   3 years ago

Most top schools reject thousands of qualified students. E.g., Yale has said that they could drop their entire admitted class and then take the next 1300 with no perceptible drop in quality.

The question is, does this have to do with getting your application in early? I kind of doubt it.

1 point by DCP2011   3 years ago

Once again, thanks James. I've contacted the office of admissions and discussed it with my family, and we've decided to apply regular decision. I appreciate your input, thank you!

I have about a 57.3% chance, but I have taken a shitload of AP classes, and I am also going to submit a short film and an essay, so my chances could be higher.

This is good news. I think.

it depends on the number of AP exams you have taken, and their scores as well, not to mention your grades.

you've only taken 4 exams so far, only two of which are 5's, and you have a weighted GPA of 4.01. that's not good news, nick.

35 percent chance? OUCH! I think it greatly depends on where you come from as well as your academics.

From what I have seen by visiting and read about NYU, it's an amazing school but with a pretty high price tag. :(
