Parchment Student Profile

I am 17 years old and I live in Zionsville, IN. I have been living in Zionsville for about a year and a half, but was born and raised in Hershey, PA for 11 years, then moved to Williamsburg, VA for 4 years, before moving to Indiana. I have been playing the violin for 12 years, and currently play with the Zionsville Chamber Orchestra. I grew up playing football, basketball, and baseball, but I decided not to continue football and basketball through middle school. I still play baseball with the Zionsville Eagles, and recently we won the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, and finished the regular season with a 31-5 record. I consider myself a talented person, and was blessed with numerous opportunities since childhood, thanks to my parents, who involved me in many different activities. I also believe in the value of cultural and ethnic beliefs, and the impact that they serve in my life. My mother was born in Puerto Rico, and my father in Lebanon, but both voyaged to the United States in order to pursue a higher education at Rochester Institute of Technology. I have traveled to both countries numerous times and share very close bonds with all my relatives. I had come up with certain goals as a child, before entering middle school, which I tried my hardest to achieve. The first goal was to become a fluent Spanish speaker. As a junior in high school, I have already completed all that my school can offer me in Spanish courses, and took the AP test this past Spring. I was inducted into La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish National Honor Society), and was identified in the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program. The next was to be a stronger person. I am involved in several clubs, including Eagles Making Positive Choices, a school club that requires good deeds and volunteering without material reward. These clubs and activities have strengthened me as an individual, and have allowed me to mature tremendously in responsibility and independence. My final goal was to be happy in life. I live my life with a positive attitude and put 100% effort into everything I do, and am extremely satisfied with my school, family, and most importantly, myself. I understand that in order to achieve success as an adult, I must apply myself to everything I do now, and focus on each task. I am extremely excited for college, and to take advantage of the numerous academic opportunities the university of my choosing has to offer.
