are reach schools good to apply to? To clarify, should i even bother doing it. I'm pretty new, so if anyone can give a low-down of the "Parchment Bars" or whatever. Thanks!

If you are looking for significant merit based aid, it is unlikely to be offered by reach schools.

Applicants do get accepted at reach schools on occassion. However, getting into reach schools can be a disappointment if you don't qualify for financial aid and really can't handle the $50,000/year cost of a top private college. If cost can be handled without undue hardship, going to a top school can be very rewarding.
