Essay Lengths

For UNC Chapel Hill, the supplement essay says "roughly 500 words." My problem is that I'm only at 300 and it sounds great and I don't want to add any more. What should I do?

keep it at 300 words. most likely the college admissions officers won't mind a bit of brevity as long as the question is clearly answered. I read a "why Yale" essay that was only 78 (maybe 76?) words long and an admissions officer at Yale said it was his favorite essay and called it a "masterpiece". I'm saying this to say that you don't always have to go up to the word count given. I think it's more of a limit than a requirement. Good luck btw :-)
