Demonstrated Interest

I was thinking of sending an email to my top choice school before I apply to show demonstrated interest. Is this worth the time (a.k.a should I spend that time on my application?), and if so, what should I put in the email? Thanks!

If you want to show interest call and ask to speak with an admissions officer that handles your territory. Ask a few thoughtful questions to get some insight on the college. Then follow-up with a written thank you letter.
