I plan to be a Psychology and Music double major, and Yale has the resources which will make this possible for me. So I wrote another short answer and really don't know if it is good enough.

As an international student who has always longed to experience the cultural diversity America has to offer, Yale’s location in New Haven, which is known as the cultural center of Connecticut, will enable me experience that cultural diversity. Consequently, the tremendous psychology research opportunities and musical resources such as The Irving S. Gilmore Music Library, The Fred Plaut Recording Studio and The Shubert Centre for Performing Arts, that Yale and New Haven provide will make it possible for me to pursue my passion for a Psychology and Music double major

maybe you can combine the two essays. i like the first one better just cuz i'm the nostalgic type. but the second one has the "why" that the 1st one lacks.

you mention that its "through the turn of events" that you realize the "opportunities" that Yale could provide. the opportunities are covered in your 2nd essay (The Irving S. Gilmore Music Library, The Fred Plaut Recording Studio and The Shubert Centre for Performing Arts) but what is the event?
