Virginia Rios, Registrar at Santa Clara High School, took advantage of having a group of 34 secondary and postsecondary professionals to share how processing eTranscripts is so simple, she does it using her cell phone. Folks nodded and agreed. This is a savvy group who know all about the ease of eTranscripts. But were pretty astonished when a few minutes later Ms. Rios commented that she had just processed 6 transcripts right then and there. Now that’s efficient!
Ms. Rios and 34 other attendees joined Parchment at one of our favorite events, a Parchment Regional User Conference. Held in Merced, CA on April 30, Regional User Conferences are a chance for K12 Counselors and University Admissions officers from a single region to come together to talk about issues specific to them!
The agenda is designed to allow senders and receivers the opportunity to see what happens both up and downstream of the transcript exchange process. These conversations help both groups process transcripts faster and improve the overall experience.
At the Merced Regional User Conference, we had two really wonderful interviews before breaking out into sending and receiving tracks. First, an interview with Merced Union High School District‘s Ana Machado, Categorical Program Specialist and Jorge Arteaga, Director of Information. They discussed implementation at a district level, the unique challenges districts have, and their plans for next year.
Second, an interview with Jerred Thompson, Assistant Director of Admission from the University of the Pacific. Mr. Thompson discussed how Parchment Receive has changed their processes, how it works for them and why eTranscripts are preferred from their high school feeders.
After lunch, K12 and Admissions attendees broke out into individual sessions to discuss best practices, product training, and mutual benefits when K12 Senders and Higher Ed receivers work together.
It was a great day of learning and collaboration across the education spectrum. And at least of few people at the event will probably start processing transcripts from their cell phones!
