Parchment Connect

Expanding the Community

The Parchment Connect series was first launched in 2014 and since then, we’ve held dozens of events around the country. After a long (quarantined) hiatus, we are thrilled to announce we’re bringing back this in-person and free event! In fact, we’re opening the event to all members of the education community – you don’t have to be a Parchment member to attend. Take advantage of a great day of networking and learning from your peers.

Keynote

Thinking More Intentionally About
The Registrar's Role in Higher Education's Future

Dr. Andrew Delbanco

Dr. Andrew Delbanco

Alexander Hamilton Professor of American Studies at Columbia University
and President of the Teagle Foundation

As the commercialization of American higher education accelerates, more and more students are coming to college with the narrow aim of obtaining a preprofessional credential. The traditional four-year college experience–an exploratory time for students to discover their passions and test ideas and values with the help of teachers and peers–is in danger of becoming a thing of the past. In this session, hear how this college experience is becoming a privilege reserved for the relatively rich, what a true college education should be, why making it available to as many young people as possible remains central to America’s democratic promise, and where the Registrar can play a role in that promise.

Just to add an incentive to save your seat early, we are giving away a copy of
College: What It Was, Is, and Should Be
to the first 80 people to register and attend Parchment Connect New York!
